"The S-corp election and retirement plan they set up cut my tax bill by nearly $11,000 the first year. Worth every penny, twice over."

Common questions
The things people usually ask before booking a call.
What is the difference between tax planning and tax filing?
Filing reports what already happened. Planning changes what happens next. We look ahead at your income, entity structure, retirement contributions and giving, then make moves before the year closes - which is the only point at which most of them still work.
Do you file my return as well, or only plan?
Both. Most clients start with a plan and have us handle the return afterwards, so the strategy we designed is what actually lands on the form. You are welcome to keep your existing preparer and use us for planning alone.
When is the best time to start?
Earlier is better, and almost any time beats April. Most of the strategies worth having - entity elections, retirement plan setup, bunching charitable gifts, adjusting withholding - have to be in place before 31 December to count for that year.
How much can I realistically expect to save?
Our clients average about $4,850 in first-year savings, though it varies with income, entity type and how much planning has been done before. We tell you what we think is achievable on the discovery call, before you commit to anything.
Do you work with self-employed people and small business owners?
Yes, and it is where planning tends to pay off most. Freelancers, 1099 contractors, LLCs and S-corps all have levers that W-2 employees do not, including entity elections, owner compensation and retirement plan design.
Are the free tools on this page actual tax advice?
No. The Deduction Finder, Quarterly Estimator and Giving Optimizer are educational estimates built on simplified assumptions, and they cannot see your full picture. Use them to get oriented, then book a call for advice specific to your situation.
